VISION

To engage all communities and empower each other to move from reactive conservation towards proactive stewardship

To collaboratively transform a failing system to one that is healthy, transparent and respectful of the interconnectedness of life

MISSION
To facilitate committed and open partnerships that enable:

  • habitats, species and cultures to thrive
  • sustainable economic activities that place equal value on income security, quality of life and the health of our shared ecosystem

To create an atmosphere of:

  • support and innovation for work on the ground
  • openness and willingness to change across civil society, government and industry

STRATEGIC FOCUS
Our focus is in bridging between the global north and the global south, with specific attention in/to Sabah, Malaysian Borneo, South East Asia and the U.S.A. and Europe, on the premise that deep and lasting change can only be achieved in engagement with each other. Our strategic focus is in building partnerships and projects in:
1.
Landscape and ecosystem protection through Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES);
2.
Habitat protection through land acquisition – identifying, purchasing and holding in trust vital wildlife corridors to prevent habitat fragmentation and promote contiguity of forest tracts;
3.
Forest/habitat restoration – identifying, reforesting and rehabilitating degraded and critical forest/habitat areas to increase carrying capacity for wildlife and/or support sustainable livelihood of local communities;
4.
Species conservation with scientific/research based conservation groups in Orang Utan, Rhino and Sun Bear research and conservation;
5.
Community-based conservation initiatives – engaging, allying and developing with local communities in all project areas as primary stewards of land.

ACTION STRATEGY
1.
Engage with a wide spectrum of groups in the confluence of conservation and development, at local, national, regional and international levels, by listening, opening and holding space for strategic conversations, identifying and analyzing emergent issues//opportunities;
2.
Convene, facilitate and build converging collaborations between government, private enterprise, NGOs and foundations, and communities where there is readiness and willingness to act;
3.
Consensually develop projects which build a common ground for goals and action between collaborating groups;
4.
Facilitate capacity building of partnerships and projects in areas of fund-raising, communication, project management, reporting, etc;
5.
Support implementation of projects in alignment with stated goals and objectives and remain engaged until the “gaps or needs are bridged” and the partnerships and projects are independent or concluded;
6.
Engender trust in parties with whom we engage by valuing and maintaining integrity, accountability and transparency in our practices.
